One of my promises to you as part of Frontier Fortunes is that I’ll let you know about interesting opportunities I find in the NFT market.
NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are one-off, one-of-a-kind cryptocurrencies that represent ownership of a digital asset. I’m sure you’ve heard the term in the past year, given that NFTs have become a cultural phenomenon—and one that is making lots of early investors lots of money.
Before reading this alert, I’d strongly advise that you check out the two NFT reports I’ve prepared, if you haven’t already done so. These are: How to Invest in NFTs and The Frontier Fortunes Guide to NFT Wallets.
In those reports, I explain the NFT terminology you’ll see below, like “minting,” and show you step by step how to set up a wallet and invest in these assets.
Now, on to today’s alert…
This alert is to let you know about an NFT project that will mint on Feb. 7 at noon Eastern time.
The project is called Yaku. It’s a game set in a dystopian, Asian metaverse. The digital city is based on the real street layout of Hong Kong. The NFTs that are minting are digital motorcycles. They look like this:
These bikes will be used to play the game and move about the city.
Each bike with be different in some way, and some will be rarer than others. It’s entirely luck of the draw in the minting process.
If you own a bike, you’ll then be able to participate in two further Yaku mints—one for a “capsule” in two weeks (Feb. 21 is the date for that, though things change), and then for an avatar in early March.
Think of the capsule like a futuristic apartment, which your avatar will call home. Each capsule will also come with a garage for the bike.
All three NFTs—the bike, capsule, and avatar—will be sellable separately on an NFT marketplace such as Magic Eden. After speaking with the founders, and understanding the partnerships they have and where they’re going with this project, I suspect that Yaku is going to be popular, so I think the bikes in particular are going to rise in value.
Only 7,000 bikes, capsules, and avatars will be available initially. So, the supply is low when you consider there’s global demand.
The first mint, the bikes, will cost 0.5 Solana, or SOL. At current prices, that’s about $45, a relatively cheap mint.
Capsules will mint for 3 SOL.
Avatars will mint for 1.5 SOL.
So, why invest in Yaku?
Metaverse games are going to be huge as we move forward. And Yaku looks to be a winner in that space because of the technology it’s using and the ecosystem it’s building out.
First, the tech.
Yaku is building its metaverse using Unreal Engine 5, one of the most advanced graphics-generating software suites available today. The graphics rendered are so lifelike—even when rendering humans—that Hollywood is using the software to build scenes for blockbuster movies.
As for the ecosystem…
I’ve talked to the Yaku team and their roadmap is quite interesting. For instance, there will be a casino district (run by NFT-based casino companies). There will also be a motorcycle-racing game that is basically a gambling venture, where players can race to win real money, and where others can bet on the race to win real money.
Yaku is also building in functionality that will allow other metaverse gaming projects to import mini-versions of their game into the Yakuverse, and there will be a “university” where people can take classes in computer coding, game design, etc.
They’re even working on a digital ramen shop linked to a real-world food-delivery service so that gamers can order food directly in the game and have it delivered. I am betting that feature shows up in lots of metaverses to come.
In the future, there will be land sales as well, meaning you could own a piece of the Yakuverse and lease it to others to build digital stores that sell branded goods. For instance, Harley Davidson or Yamaha or whoever could have a store selling branded digital accessories for the bikes or branded digital clothing to dress out an avatar.
Seriously, this is what gaming is going to be in the future.
It’s why I want in on these opportunities now.
Later this year, Yaku will also release its own cryptocurrency, the Yaku token, and those who own assets in the game are likely to benefit from that financially. Those details haven’t been released yet, but it’s on the way.
So, that’s the opportunity if you wish to pursue it.
Note: There is no guarantee you will be able to mint a Yaku bike.
As I said, there are only 7,000 available and nearly 15,000 members populate Yaku’s channel on Discord, a social media app where most NFT projects have a community of followers. Another 10,000 follow Yaku on Twitter. So minting Yaku could be challenging.
If you’re quick and you’re able to mint one immediately when the process opens up right at noon Eastern time on Feb. 7, there’s a good chance you will see the value of that NFT at least double to 1 SOL in short order.
Also, please recognize that this is not an official recommendation. I don’t track NFTs in our Frontier Fortunes Portfolio because I know some members won’t be able to get in simply because of the luck-of-the-draw nature of NFTs. Instead, I am using these NFT alerts to let you know when I see interesting projects emerge.
If you can get in, fantastic! You will have a shot of earning some profits.
Finally, where to mint this NFT…
You will need to sign up for Discord, the social media app I mentioned. It’s free. Once you’re signed up and verified, you’ll want to go the Yaku Corp. Discord channel—this is the link.
Once there, look for the “announcements” channel on the left. There, the Yaku team will post the official link to the minting site. Never follow a link that shows up anywhere else in Discord. Those will be scam links 100% of the time, without question, period.
No NFT project is going to randomly pick you for early minting access, or for a free mint, or whatever tactic scammers are using these days. So, always, always click only on the links that exist in the “announcements” or “official links” channels on a particular NFT’s Discord page.
When you go to the mint site at the time of minting, you will likely see a countdown clock. A few minutes before it hits zero, connect your browser wallet. Make sure you have at least 0.55 SOL in your browser wallet—0.5 for the mint, plus a little bit extra to pay the gas fees (or transaction fees) associated with minting.
The absolute second that clock hits 0:00, click the “mint” button.
Your wallet will pop up. Don’t think about it. Just hit “Approve”…then wait and hope.
You will either be successful or you won’t. That mint site will either congratulate you or let you know the minting failed, usually because it sold out quickly. If you’re not successful, click mint again. Sometimes congestion causes the wallet to “time out.” You might get lucky the second time.
If you succeed, check your wallet and you will see your Yaku bike.
Good luck!
